AIRS, along with two partner microwave sounding instruments, represents the most advanced atmospheric sounding system ever deployed in space. Together these instruments observe the global water and energy cycles, climate variation and trends, and the response of the climate system to increased greenhouse gases. The AIRS web site is here.
People at work get distracted by threats of war and terrorism. They can get so absorbed, that work goes undone or gets poorly done. There are 7 easy things that anyone can do to reduce the harm that fixation on a dangerous environment can cause. I have helped a number of people at work with these techniques.

People can get discouraged in their careers. This is a serious matter if it occurs. If this does occur, then the best thing that I can recommend is the book, The Problems of Work. It may be that just a little more information can make all the difference.
L. Ron Hubbard wrote this book to help people who have gotten discouraged or are otherwise in trouble on the job. I recommend it.

Want to lift off into space, but don't have a rocket? Just stop by the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden on July 30, 2006, from 5 pm to 10 pm, and the Spitzer Science Center will bring the infrared universe to you.
The Arboretum is hosting a unique celebration of nature, technology and art, titled "Terra-Byte". The celebration will include a dazzling display of cosmic images and artist's concepts from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. Astronomer, space artist, and host of the popular Hidden Universe vodcast, Dr. Robert Hurt, will be available to answer questions about space, and demonstrate how infrared technology works.

NASA announced the names of the next generation of launch vehicles that will return humans to the moon and later take them to Mars and other destinations. The crew launch vehicle will be called Ares I (far right), and the cargo launch vehicle will be known as Ares V.

The "I and V" designations pay homage to the Apollo program's Saturn I and Saturn V rockets, the first large U.S. space vehicles conceived and developed specifically for human spaceflight.

The crew exploration vehicle, which will succeed the space shuttle as NASA's spacecraft for human space exploration, will be named later. This vehicle will be carried into space by Ares I, which uses a single five-segment solid rocket booster, a derivative of the space shuttle's solid rocket booster, for the first stage. The Ares I is expected to lift more than 55,000 pounds to low Earth orbit.

The Ares V can lift more than 286,000 pounds to low Earth orbit and stands approximately 360 feet tall. This versatile system will be used to carry cargo and the components into orbit needed to go to the moon and later to Mars.
I am back from vacation. I was at the Flag Service Organization in Clearwater, Florida. It is a real experience to see a large Scientology organization. You see a level of competence, both individually and as an organization, that is rarely seen elsewhere. It is good to see an ideal scene, so you can compare that to your existing scene. You can then spot the discrepancies and change your existing organization to become more like an ideal organization.
One thing I noticed is that every staff member at Flag had a clear understanding of what their product is, and kept a record of how much product they were getting each week. I have gotten people in our NASA missions to organize by product, but I can work on this some more in order to get closer to Flag standards.

Career success is something you create. It is not an accident. One of the key skills that is needed is the ability to study new material, often without the assistance of an instructor. I think that the best references on study skills are available at a website that is maintained by the Church of Scientology. In some of the more advanced professions, a person needs to be able to fully update their education every few years. I have a great advantage in my career because of this study technology.

Global warming is measured in many ways. One of the tools used to detect and measure changes in global temperatures is the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder . This instrument was launched into space on May 4, 2002, and is still operating aboard NASA's Aqua satellite. It makes highly accurate measurements of air temperature, humidity, clouds and surface temperatures.

As we enter hurricane season once again, it extremely important that the Scientology Volunteer Minister program continues to receive strong support. If you can volunteer time or assist with donations contact the Scientology Volunteer Minister Coordinator at: 1-800 HELP 4-YU (1-800-435-7498) or (323) 960-1949 or e-mail vm@volunteerministers.org.
On July 2, Cassini performed another flyby of Saturn's largest moon, Titan. Cassini Scientists will focus on the interactions between Titan's atmosphere and the magnetosphere that surrounds Saturn. Cassini has successfully completed the first two years of its mission at Saturn.
